I'd Do it All Over Again

Today, I dedicate this post to my wife, Karen.

You see, it is our "sweet 16th" wedding anniversary. For 16 years, this woman has put up with my moods, my wicked and warped sense of humor, my aches and pains, my serious (and nearly deadly) maladies and my general laziness.

She's done this with minimal complaints, although, at times, I deserved the "riot act" being read to me.

Why? I would fathom to guess that she is merely a glutton for punishment, but I'd be wrong. She's better than that.

It's because we became best friends when we were dating. And, when you have a best friend, you tend to overlook some things that would set others off.

Karen overlooks the fact that I am overweight. I weighed about 40 mlbs less when we got married, but she still see's the guy she married. Karen overlooks the fact that I am "disorganized" (read "a scatterbrain"). She overlooks my obvious adult ADD, in which I tend to jump from task to task, seldom finishing the one I started before moving on.

Karen put up with my working 11 years of middle (3-11) shift, and 2+ years of graveyard shift. She knows when I need a hug and she knows when I need to be left alone.

She is my best friend. (sorry, Jim.)

Although I don't say it often enough, don't show it often enough, and act like a complete moron often enough, I feel the need to say it now:

Honey, where's my clean underwear?

Heh...just kidding (She has to put up with this BS, too)

Karen Shaw, I love you as much today as I did the day we got married...as a matter of fact, I love you more. Thank you for putting up with all of the above mentioned crap...only a best friend could know all of that about another person and still want to be around them.

I love you...Happy 16th Anniversary!

What a romantic... and the flowers were beautiful that you sent her. Lucky pair the two of you are - we adore your wife as well. Happy Anniversary and in the words of Shannon:

AWWWWWWW!!!

Who is this "Jim" that is a rival for your affections??? Could it be King James? Remember that while your wife may be Lord of your household, His Majesty is your sovereign.
