PRESS RELEASE

From the Lance Rogers Campaign:

STATE REP. DAYLIN LEACH FILES FALSE AFFIDAVIT WITH COURT IN SUPPORT OF DISGRACED CONSTABLE

(Ardmore, PA) - State Representative and candidate for state Senate Daylin Leach apparently doesn't have a problem recommending individuals who have already been found unsuited for a career in law enforcement. The Times Herald reported yesterday that Leach certified in an affidavit filed with the court June 5th that he's known former Montgomery County Constable Steven Sokoloff for at least five years, attesting to his good character. Last fall, Sokoloff was forced to publicly resign his job as Deputy Constable due to unnecessary force and false arrest.

In today's Philadelphia Inquirer, Leach told the reporter when asked about his questionable recommendation, "that he did not know Sokoloff well and was not aware he resigned from his job as a deputy constable." That is in direct contrast to Leach's notarized affidavit certifying he has known Sokoloff for five years.

"I'm not sure what Mr. Leach is thinking. All one needs to do is a simple Google search and Mr. Sokoloff's name pops up everywhere. This recommendation is just another example in the long list of poor decisions Leach has made over the last five years," said Lance Rogers ". I wouldn't want Sokoloff to be a crossing guard, let alone carry a badge and gun as a private investigator. Mr. Leach should withdraw his endorsement of Mr. Sokoloff and tell us who he was lying to - the court or the reporter."

Last October, Steven Sokoloff, then a Deputy Constable awarded a job by his wife, was forced to resign his position after using unnecessary force against an innocent man over a $10 parking ticket. Former District Attorney Bruce Castor launched a criminal investigation at the time into Sokoloff's actions, and CBS-3 and KYW radio both ran stories. Sokoloff resigned his position one week later.
