It looks like Joe Hoeffel will be seeking yet another position that will keep him on the public's payroll, if successful.
In a recent poll, Jo-jo garnered 30% of the support, should he decide to run against likely candidates. Unfortunately, Jim Matthews was not named as a likely running mate for Joe...bummer, considering how well they have worked together over the past year and a half.
Hopefully, as close as he and Jimbo have been, he will be a likely recipient of a huge dose of the "Matthews Effect"...one can only hope.

Joe Hoeffel a Strong Possibility For Governor's Race

It's Laughable
This last week, Ed Boyd, Abington committeeman and Matthews apologist, posted this on his blot (skip the bullsh*t, just watch the second video):
Off the Record (or, there is no "Matthews Effect")
Apparently, Mr. Boyd lives in a fantasy world. Here, in some previous posts, are a few of those who have fallen victim to "The Matthews Effect":

http://writemarsh.blogspot.com/2008/06/update-victims-of-matthews-effect-thus.html
There are but a few of those who have fallen victim to the dreaded "effect". I, too have been a victim, as Jim told me that I had his support in my failed run for supervisor in Whitemarsh. Boyd is a fool not to recognize the pattern for what it is.
What would you expect from a guy who still considers himself a "young Republican" at his age? (I visited a YR meeting once, it was just plain creepy seeing him, apparently trying to hang on to his lost youth, mingling with the 20-somethings like a dried up old bachelor uncle.)
(If you've ever seen the guy, he looks like he's about 60)
Maybe if he wasn't such a Matthews sycophant, his blog would be doing better than it has (he just recently took down his counter...only 4000+ hits since last September, which is pitiful)

The Matthews Effect, Again.
A trusted source tells me that the "Matthews Effect" has claimed yet another victim:
"Another Matthews supporter was ousted last evening at the reorganization meeting of the Upper Dublin Republican Committee. Bill Bryers (the worst Municipal Chairman ever!) probably didn't run again because he could not find one person to nominate him. He didn't hold meetings (probably 3 meetings in 3 years), never had an agenda and spent all of the money."Once, it's an incident...twice, maybe a coincidence. The fact that it keeps happening, over and over, leads me to believe that this is a phenomenon that will keep perpetuating itself, until there are no more Matthews supporters left.
Hey, a guy can dream, cant he?

Ed Boyd: The Latest "Victim" of "The Matthews Effect"
There is a new phenomenon in Montgomery County Republican circles...Abington Township's Ed Boyd is the latest in what may turn out to be a string of candidates failing to be elected or re-elected based on one factor–their support of James Rex, the Turd.
The ATRO result is indicitative of a growing trend in Montco GOP politics known as "The Matthews Effect." People tied to King James Matthews continue to lose elections. King James is the man who betrayed his party, his donors, and his voters by turning control of Montgomery County government over to Democrat Joe Hoeffel. Many people were fooled by him and now, themselves, feel foolish that they disregarded a mountian of evidence that King James was untrustworthy, and supported him over the strong objection of then-District Attorney Bruce Castor (a man with much experience identifying people who are of poor character.)
We first saw "The Matthews Effect" when Lee Falgout, Chair of the Upper Moreland GOP was running for the nomination for Congress in the 13th District. Merely mentioning Falgout's ardent support for Matthews brought about his defeat by 2 to 1 at the hands of Marina Kats who embraced Castor and his supporters. Falgout subsequently had to give up his chairman's post as well.
The next victim of "The Matthews Effect" was MCRC Chairman Ken Davis who was forced to give up on his re-election efforts when all countywide elected Republicans (except Matthews) refused to support him. Thus branded as Matthews' candidate, any support Davis had evaporated.
Similarily, the (former) candidate opposing now-Chairman Bob Kerns, Jim Vlahos, had to end his campaign after several times being mentioned in newspaper accounts as being backed by Jim Matthews. People stopped talking to Vlahos.
Which brings us back to the latest victim of "The Matthews Effect", Ed Boyd, who wanted to be ATRO Chairman. Boyd was a vocal supporter of King James and even went so far as to defend him aggressively on his blog (posts subsequently removed after the GOP unleashed a firestorm on Boyd in their wake.) Boyd's defeat at the hands of newcomer Bob Adshead (a longtime Castor friend) yet again underscores the depth of the animosity felt by Republicans toward Jim Matthews.
As we proceed into another general election cycle, more and more Republican candidates flock to Bruce Castor for support while shunning Matthews. Who can blame them? None wants to be felled by..."The Matthews Effect."

Atro Reorganization Results
Bob Adshead (Castor) defeated Ed Boyd (Matthews), 56-19 to succeed Bob Griffith as ATRO Chairman.
Congrats to Bob! Tough luck, Ed. Maybe you'll pick better friends than King James the Turd if you want to advance politically in Montgomery County.
Loser Ed Boyd posted this on his blog today.
If this isn't a case of sour grapes, I don't know what could be:
Thanks
You know who you are, so no need for me to say it here. While you weren't a part of the majority last night, you are brave for standing with me. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Over the past 15 days I have been busy attempting to win over the the hearts and minds of ATRO members. Last night they chose someone else. While my official opponent was a straight-laced, upstanding gentleman who will do a better job than the outgoing chairman, he wasn't the one I was competing against. Read the rest here.

James Rex, the Movie
Scene 1: December 17, 2007. Ray's Diner. 9:00 a.m.
Bob Kerns: "Jim, don't do it. Don't let down your supporters, the committee, all your donors, and the voters. Please reconsider. It is not too late."
(soon to be) King James, III: "I know my poltitcal career is over. I'm not running for anything again. I know this will kill the party. I don't care. It's a quality of life thing. I was very unhappy with Marino and Ellis. I am not finishing up that way. A quality of life thing."
Scene 2: Four months later...
King James III ponders his quality of life, now...Marino and Ellis didn't always agree with him, but they never spent every waking moment making his life Hell. King James is now a pariah within the county party. He has no respect among the county workers, he is the butt of jokes in statewide GOP circles. No candidate wants to be endorsed by him for any office. Just being identified in the media as "the Matthews choice" for any office dooms that office seeker. Perhaps the most well-known and trusted political figure in the county relentlessly seeks ways to make life miserable for His Majesty, delights in doing so, and will never stop attacking.
Scene 3: Montage
In social settings, people are becoming more and more confrontational. El turdo has to force himself on people to get acknowledgement...even resorting to "shake-rape". Gets his brother to have MCDC shairman, Marcel Groen, on "Hardball"- forming yet another alliance with a top democrat.
Scene 4: Friday, April 25, 2008...North Hills Country Club
Sipping his 5th Dewar's in as many minutes, James the Turd ponders...I thought these people still liked me. Yeah, that's right...they do. I'm here because they don't serve Dewar's next door....riiiiiiight.
Think again...
Just how is that quality of life, Jimbo?

Screenplay by: Juanada Tree Kmisczs
Director: Sweet Willie Dozer

Joe Hoeffel: Tim Robbins
Bruce Castor: Arnold Schwartzenegger
